On September 25, 2023, the fourth Think Tank Science and Engineering Seminar on "Regional Innovation" was successfully held at Tencent's headquarters in Beijing. This seminar serves as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange among high-end national think tanks. Since its inception in 2020, it has been convened three times and has gained significant social, academic, and international influence. Professor Wang Nan from Business School delivered a special report.
The seminar was organized by the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology Strategy Consulting Institute, the China Development Strategy Research Society, and the China Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences. Notable attendees included Chang Jin (Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Yu Yingjie (Vice Mayor of Beijing), Hong Dayong (Director of National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences), Han Yu (Deputy Director General at National Natural Science Foundation), and Li Yang (Vice President at China's International Eurasian Academy). They spoke during the opening ceremony alongside distinguished guests such as Yang Weimin (former Deputy Director at China's Financial Affairs Office) and Academicians Wu Hequan & Zhang Ping from Chinese Academy of Engineering who presented keynote addresses on macroeconomic operations, AI’s role in think tanks, and advancements in 6G technology. The forum attracted nearly 10 thousand online viewers.
Professor Wang Nan's report titled "Construction of International Consumption Center City under New Development Pattern" focused on three areas: significance related to new economic development stages; understanding connotations and developmental laws; strategies for fostering high-quality growth within these centers.
Additionally, Professor Wang introduced participants to “Beijing International Consumption Center City Think Tank,” initiated by Beijing Technology and Business University with support from Beijing Municipal Bureau Of Commerce to address critical construction issues while engaging in research initiatives—creating an open platform that integrates government entities with enterprises/universities/research institutions to enhance decision-making services through intelligence gathering. The Council includes members such as China National Business Information Center Capital Research Institute Cultural Innovations PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting UnionPay Commerce Wangfujing Group Beijing Business News Federation Of Commerce Logistics Supply Chain Management Association along with experts from organizations like State Council’s Development Research Centre CCPIT CBAE CFCC Renmin University UIBE who have established academic committees accordingly . Moving forward , this think tank aims to build efficient research platforms via mechanisms for collecting key topics recommending submissions facilitating professional training thereby improving communication between “think-tank + government” closely monitoring decision-making needs regularly publishing topic collection announcements conducting selections promoting interdisciplinary collaborations strengthening resource sharing forming robust research forces dedicated to cultivating international consumer center cities providing substantial intellectual support aiding capital’s business development journey .
