In order to strengthen the construction of the teaching team, give full play to the exemplary role of teaching masters, and effectively improve the teaching ability and level of our college's teachers, the Business School held the 4th Teaching Master and Teaching Pacesetter Selection Competition on March 1, 2024, in Room 326, Teaching Building 3, Fucheng Road. Professor Xiong Ke, Deputy Director of the School's Academic Affairs Office, attended the competition. The competition invited Professor Ouyang Aiping, a Beijing Teaching Master, Professor Qin Yanmei, former director of the National Teaching Demonstration Center, Professor Feng Zhongyue, a school teaching supervisor expert, Professor Wang Jingwu, Fu Shi Lun, Party Committee Secretary of the College, and Professor Zhao Chuan, Deputy Dean, to serve as expert judges. Deputy Dean Qiu Yong attended the competition, and the competition was hosted by Yan Huan, Director of the Teacher Development Center of the Business School.
In his speech, Professor Xiong Ke, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, pointed out that the school strongly promotes teaching innovation and the creation of first-class courses, aiming to focus on educational teaching innovation, guide college teachers to concentrate on teaching and educating people, establish a quality education priority consciousness, form a pursuit of excellent teaching value and conscious action. The Business School attaches great importance to teaching work and cares about the growth of teachers. On behalf of the Academic Affairs Office, he wished the competition a complete success.
In his speech, Secretary Fu Shi Lun said that the Business School continues to build a high-level first-class professional, continuously cultivates outstanding young teaching pacesetters, and continues to give play to the leading and exemplary role of teaching masters. Excellent teachers are the foundation of the college's development. The college has established a Teacher Development Center to guide teachers to develop teaching ideas and concepts, innovate teaching methods and models, and provide a large platform for all college teachers to interact, share resources, and display results. This selection competition is not only a stage for excellent teachers to show, but also an opportunity for teachers to observe each other and learn from each other. It is hoped that "competition will promote construction and teaching" and set an excellent teaching example.
Subsequently, 13 teaching pacesetter competing teachers and 4 teaching master competing teachers successively carried out teaching demonstrations in the order of the draw. They demonstrated their professional knowledge through a variety of teaching ideas, with content that is easy to understand, highlighting the elements of course thinking and politics, with vivid and diverse forms, making full use of digital teaching methods, and well showing each teacher's unique teaching style and demeanor.
After the demonstration, the judges made wonderful comments. Professor Ouyang Aiping pointed out that the teachers prepared very carefully and fully in advance, and the teaching demonstration reflected the teachers' solid professional knowledge. She suggested that as young teachers, they need to continue to study teaching methods and skills, and the content of business teaching should not be limited to textbooks. They should combine reality and regard the world as teaching materials. In terms of teaching methods, they can attract the audience through case inspiration and interactive discussion. In terms of teaching structure, they should "tell a complete story" with learning, summary, exercise, and thinking. Professor Qin Yanmei proposed from her own experience that a good teacher is not only a good actor but also a good scriptwriter and director. She should exercise in all aspects such as teaching plans, appearance, voice and intonation, and facial expressions to support a play on her own. Professor Feng Zhongyue pointed out that the lecture should be full of emotion, with voice and intonation ups and downs, and pay attention to the heavy and light, slow and fast, and grasp the audience's attention at any time. Professor Wang Jingwu inspired teachers to think about what, why, and how to design teaching from a philosophical height. Deputy Dean Zhao Chuan made suggestions for improvement in terms of posture, gestures, blackboard writing, and appearance. The competing teachers expressed that they have benefited a lot from this teaching competition and provided experience for better investment in education and teaching in the future.
After the competition, Deputy Dean Qiu Yong announced the results. After the joint evaluation of expert judges and student judges, the college selected the college teaching master award, teaching pacesetter first prize, second prize, and third prize (the list of winners is attached below). Professor Ouyang Aiping, Professor Qin Yanmei, Professor Feng Zhongyue, and Professor Wang Jingwu awarded the winners. In the future, the Business School will continue to assist and guide teachers to continue to improve their teaching level, constantly update teaching concepts, create opportunities for teaching exchange and discussion, and thus effectively improve teachers' teaching literacy and create high-quality business courses.
