On March 1, 2024, Professor Chen Guoli from INSEAD was invited by the Business School to deliver a special lecture titled "Artificial Intelligence and Strategic Management" for faculty and students. The lecture was chaired by Professor Wang Nan, with the participation of young faculty, doctoral and master's students.
Professor Chen began his lecture by referencing his book "SEEING THE UNSEEN," highlighting the importance of frameworks in thinking. He provided an in-depth explanation of his "POP-Leadership" framework, which includes four core elements: "People," "Organization," "Product," and "Leadership." This framework offers a new perspective and thought process for academic research.
He then delved into the core question, "What is AI?", dissecting the existing definitions of artificial intelligence and offering his own insights. Using AI as an example, he demonstrated how the "AI + POP-Leadership" framework can be integrated into practical applications, providing cutting-edge and practical academic enlightenment to the attendees.
In the latter half of the lecture, Professor Chen proposed several profound considerations on the integration of AI and management research, including topics such as "Method vs. Theory," "How to measure AI (or AI Adoption)?", and "What AI can achieve?" These topics sparked lively discussions and deep reflection among the faculty and students present.
During the Q&A session, Professor Chen engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with young faculty and students. At the end of the academic lecture, Director Chen Lili of the School's Digital Business and Capital Development Innovation Center summarized the event and expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Chen once again.
