On the morning of December 2nd, the inaugural Green Logistics and Supply Chain Development Conference, along with the Green Logistics Lecture Hall's 'Double Carbon' Talent Training Forum, was convened at the Hangzhou International Expo Center. Professor He Mingke and Vice President Zhao Chuan participated as keynote speakers. Co-organized by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transport, this conference assembled numerous prominent enterprises alongside leading scholars and experts from both domestic and international arenas to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding the advancement of green logistics in China. The event aims to actualize the strategic directives set forth by the Party Central Committee and The State Council concerning industrial chain and supply chain development, steadily advancing a green and low-carbon transformation within logistics and supply chains while fostering a deep integration between modern logistics industries and manufacturing sectors to facilitate high-quality growth in China's contemporary logistics landscape. Coverage of this significant event was provided by major media outlets including CCTV, Zhejiang TV, among others, resulting in extensive public impact.
As the first chairman of ISO/TC 344 (International Organization for Standardization/Innovation Logistics Standardization Technical Committee), Professor He Mingke contributed insights during an industry standard conference focused on 'China Green Logistics Development Report (2023)', highlighting that carbon emissions from China's logistics sector account for approximately 9% of national total emissions. In light of global climate change initiatives coupled with China's commitment to achieving its 'double carbon' objectives, there exists substantial potential for green low-carbon advancements within both logistics operations and supply chains; notably, electrification of transport vehicles emerges as a pivotal strategy for facilitating this transition.
Vice President Zhao Chuan engaged with guest speakers at the Green Logistics Lecture Hall regarding innovative approaches to cultivating talents oriented towards green low-carbon practices amidst ongoing efforts toward meeting 'double carbon' strategic goals during the talent training forum. Integrating our institute’s curriculum framework with talent development programs, he articulated perspectives on distinctive pathways related to green logistics as well as sustainable supply chains through core curriculum design, professional curriculum mapping, international accreditation processes, alongside digital transformation strategies. He underscored that developing competencies for sustainable supply chains constitutes a systematic endeavor necessitating collaborative engagement among Education Advisory Committees, academic institutions, as well as logistical enterprises while also proposing specific recommendations aimed at enhancing synergies between academia-industry partnerships.
Our college remains dedicated to nurturing new business talents through synergistic collaborations encompassing production-learning-research frameworks alongside school-enterprise cooperation initiatives. Participation in this conference has significantly broadened my perspective on talent cultivation which not only plays a crucial role in advancing our institution's capacity-building efforts pertaining to green logistics but also serves as an impetus driving sustainable progress within our business department’s digital transformation endeavors.
