November 2023 marks the 32nd National Fire Protection Publicity Month. To implement the school's 'Work Plan for Special Control Actions on Student Dormitory Fire Safety,' we aim to enhance students' safety awareness, strengthen fire safety education in dormitories, and improve their fire prevention skills. On December 8, Business School conducted a comprehensive safety inspection of student dormitories on Fucheng Road campus to create a safe, clean, warm, and comfortable living environment. Counselors Lu Ying, Pan Meng, Zhang Xinyu; Life Department students from the Business Research Council; and class life committee members meticulously examined health and safety measures across 179 graduate dormitories and 20 undergraduate dormitories according to established guidelines. This ensured no unauthorized wiring or high-power electrical appliances were present while prohibiting restricted items. It was also confirmed that power was turned off when not in use and doors were locked with beds tidy and personal items organized.
The inspection followed principles of 'safety first,' 'prevention foremost,' 'student participation,' and 'comprehensive management.' It focused on problem-oriented approaches centered around student dormitory fire safety through special actions defined as ‘three inspections,’ ‘two stricts,’ and ‘one action.’ These included checking illegal electrical appliance usage, inspecting private wiring setups, ensuring clear evacuation routes; smoking is strictly prohibited along with electric vehicles.
This thorough examination identified potential hazards within each dormitory while raising students awareness of safety protocols—facilitating progress in our overall initiatives aimed at preventing fire-related incidents while fostering an optimal living environment. During inspections, students actively engaged with inspectors who reminded them about electricity precautions; it is hoped they will maintain healthy habits moving forward alongside positive conduct contributing to improved quality of life in their residences. We encourage regular ventilation practices among residents to reduce risks associated with winter flu viruses as well as unpleasant odors affecting their living conditions.
The dormitory serves as our collective home—a microcosm built through collaborative efforts by all its inhabitants. A secure orderly atmosphere directly correlates with every individuals contribution therein. This assessment addressed challenges regarding adherence to fire safety responsibilities alongside management protocols specific to graduate housing—illuminating current states of fire risk while standardizing student behaviors relative to residential norms thereby enhancing compliance toward campus regulations ultimately aiding in establishing a safe healthy learning-living ecosystem essential for sustaining campus stability alongside promoting institutional development.
