Business School Established the First Metaverse Digital Consumption Research Center in China

On June 8, 2022, the Business School of Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU)established the Metaverse Digital Consumption Research Center. This is the first Metaverse Digital Consumption Research Center led by a business school among domestic universities, after the Metaverse Research Center founded by the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Renmin University of China in April, and the Metaverse Culture Laboratory by the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University.

The Metaverse Research Center of the Business School of BTBU is based on school’s business characteristics, bringing into play the school’s disciplinary teams and traditions in aspects of commercial retailing, digital management and service marketing. It combines Industry, University, and Research. With digital consumption as its core, the center will carry out many case studies of it, researching on fields like its development pattern and trend, consumer behavior, and the revolution brought to traditional enterprise model by the metaverse (metaverse +). In the future, the Metaverse Digital Consumption Center will also write books such as “China Metaverse Digital Consumption Blue Book” and “China Metaverse Digital Consumption Case Collection”. Hopefully, we can provide scientific research, practice and teaching support for the application and promotion of metaverse in business. We also want to make contributions to the construction of Beijing as an international consumption center city and a benchmark city of metaverse.
