Business School invited Professor Wang Shouyang to hold a special lecture on "National Fund Project Application"

In order to help the majority of teachers apply for the 2024 National Fund project efficiently and with high quality, Business School invited Professor Wang Shouyang, director of the Prediction Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to give a special lecture on "Several Issues needing Attention in the application of National Fund Project" on the afternoon of November 1. Professor He Yurun, Dean of Business School, and Professor Zhang Weihua, Vice Dean, attended the lecture. More than 40 faculty members of the school attended the lecture.


        Dean He Yurun presided over the session and warmly welcomed Professor Wang. She acknowledged his significant contributions to managing National Fund projects, publishing academic papers, and training personnel while expressing gratitude for his guidance despite his busy schedule. She also emphasized the college's commitment to national fund applications.


        In his lecture, Professor Wang focused on "National Science Foundation Projects: Application and Evaluation Post-Completion," addressing key issues related to these applications aimed at improving teachers' success rates. He outlined eight differences between National Natural Science Funds and National Social Science Funds regarding topic selection and application content to help attendees clarify their choices. From a review perspective on National Natural Science Fund projects, he analyzed essential evaluation criteria such as research topics and innovation characteristics while offering strategies for effective proposal writing. Finally, he provided practical suggestions for avoiding common pitfalls in national fund project applications.


        Afterward, faculty members actively engaged with Professor Wang about challenges faced during national project applications. His patient responses fostered an atmosphere where attendees gained valuable insights.
In conclusion, Dean He Yurun reiterated her gratitude towards Professor Wang’s visit and encouraged all faculty members to apply promptly for both National Social Science Funds and Natural Science Funds according to timelines set out in our school's "2024 National Project Application Organization Plan," aiming for better outcomes next year.
        This event is the second in a series organized by Business School dedicated to guiding national project applications; it has broadened faculty perspectives on research methodologies while providing new ideas for proposal development. Moving forward, Business School will continue enhancing guidance around national project submissions through meticulous organization efforts that aim to increase both submission numbers and approval rates.
