On December 15, 2023, the Preparatory Coordination Meeting for the Fourth International Supply Chain Modeling Design Competition was successfully held in Beijing, hosted by the China Association of Communications and Transportation. Attendees included Li Gang, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Transportation Association; Gao Weiwei, Director of Personnel and Training Departments; Quan Dong, Deputy Director; Tang Jiefeng; as well as other organizing committee representatives. Zuo Min, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice President of Beijing Technology and Business University; He Yurun, Dean of Business School; Zhao Chuan, Vice Dean; Professor Yang Haoxiong also represented their institutions. Additionally present were Shao Qingdong, Chairman of Beijing Rojist Technology Development Co., Ltd.; Deputy General Manager Su Zhaohe; Ru Zhijun along with other technical support unit representatives. The meeting was presided over by Secretary-General Li Gang.
Vice President Zuo Min provided an overview of competition preparations while discussing both historical developments and current initiatives at Beijing Technology and Business University related to logistics education. He emphasized that technological innovation is a key driver for enterprise growth in today's digital era while digital skills are essential for modern professionals. Participation in this competition allows college students to understand how digital technologies apply within logistics management—using relevant tools for data analysis—and employing innovative thinking alongside quantitative methods to solve challenges effectively. Such competitions are valuable for higher education institutions exploring multidisciplinary talent training systems.
Dean He Yurun discussed professional development strategies on behalf of organizers stating that hosting this competition will enhance collaboration between industry stakeholders and academic research focused on supply chains while promoting integrated talent development across disciplines such as logistics management human resources marketing finance accounting data science thereby fostering high-end business talent cultivation moving forward ensuring successful execution leading up to event day.
Chairman Shao Qingdong introduced optimization methodologies used during these competitions representing technical support entities highlighting solutions addressing end-to-end network optimizations inventory control transportation efficiencies achieved through OR/AI algorithms complemented by simulation assessments identifying bottlenecks risk factors utilizing COPT solver technology which enhances computational speed flexibility overall performance metrics emphasizing commitment toward providing secure advanced platforms facilitating participant teams efforts tackling real-world industrial challenges leveraging global standards around state-of-the-art modeling techniques additionally outlining key milestones work plans necessary collaborative actions required among involved parties ahead upcoming events scheduled accordingly.
Secretary General Li Gang expressed his gratitude to the organizers and technical support units for their hard work in the preparation process of the competition. He stressed that all units and the organizing committee office need to take into account both foreseeable and unforeseeable risks and problems, and need to have adequate implementation plans and risk management plans to ensure the orderly promotion of the work of the competition, so as to achieve the overall positioning of the modeling competition as a high-level and international event in the supply chain field.
The successful holding of the conference laid a solid foundation for the smooth development of the fourth International Supply Chain Modeling Design Competition.
