On the afternoon of November 1, 2023, Zhu Qinghua, a renowned expert in green supply chain management and enterprise ESG research at the Antai School of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and vice dean of the Sino-US Logistics Research Institute, delivered an online lecture for faculty and students of business school. Over 60 participants took part in this learning exchange. Before the lecture, Mr. He Yurun, Dean of Business School, warmly welcomed Professor Zhu on behalf of the institution and expressed hopes for future offline guidance opportunities. The lecture was chaired by Professor Deng Chunping, Head of the Department of Business Administration and Associate Director of the Institute for Services Development and Digitalization in Business School.
Professor Zhu is a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund (2010) and leads an Innovation Group under the National Natural Science Foundation while serving as a member on both eighth Discipline Evaluation Group (Business Administration) under The State Council's Academic Degrees Committee. She is among global pioneers in green supply chain studies with oversight over more than 20 significant projects funded by national science foundations. Her scholarly contributions include over 122 articles published in English-language SCI/SSCI journals like Journal of Operations Management and 128 articles featured in Chinese journals such as Journal of Management Science. Recognized as one of Clarivate Analytics' Global Highly Cited Researchers from 2018 to 2022; she has been acknowledged as a highly cited scholar by Elsevier China since 2017 with approximately 16,697 citations across SCI/SSCI platforms resulting in an H-index score reaching up to *** cited around 35,645 times with an H-index standing at 76. Notable accolades include receiving both JOM Finalist Paper Award (2004) and AOM Best Paper Award for Emerging Markets (2009). She holds editorial positions across various esteemed journals including IJPE editor role while also contributing to IJOPM associate editorship along with ten other journal boards; actively involved with organizations such as Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX), promoting green supply chain concepts domestically and internationally; continues participation in planning initiatives related to green supply chains within Yangtze River Delta region; provided consulting services focused on sustainable practices for leading suppliers like Linglong Tire alongside Satch—first-tier partners associated with General Motors—yielding substantial economic outcomes; represented Antai College during collaboration efforts releasing 'Plastic Sustainable Development White Paper' jointly developed with Unilever & Alibaba on November6th ,2020.
In her presentation , Professor Zhu began by explaining ESG principles relevant to supply chains . Using case studies, she shared her problem-oriented research methodologies along with insights into academic writing processes. By addressing practical challenges faced by enterprises while showcasing best practices adopted among industry leaders, she elaborated upon E & S dimensions integral within contemporary supply chains. Detailed examinations were conducted regarding several representative papers recently published reflecting innovative research ideas/results therein. Finally, prospective avenues concerning future investigations surrounding ESG implications relevant towards modern-day Supply Chains were proposed.
The keynote address delivered by Professor Zhu was engaging yet enlightening; seamlessly connecting theoretical frameworks to real-world applications thereby enriching attendees’ understanding significantly throughout proceedings.
