On the morning of October 23, Colin Higgins, Deputy Minister of the Department of Business Law and Dean of Management at Deakin University; Xie Hui, International Affairs Manager in Business Law; Wang Bingjie, Director of the International Department in China; and Wang Ningning, Manager for Senior Institutional Cooperation in China visited our university. Attending this meeting were Mr. He Dongmeng, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation; Mr. Song Fangfei, Program Manager; Mr. Wang Qian, Vice President of the School of International Education; Mr. Zhang Weihua, Vice President of Business School and Mr. Li Nao. The meeting was chaired by Mr. He Yurun, Dean of Business School.
Dean He Yurun warmly welcomed Vice Minister Higgins's visit and invited his delegation to view a promotional video about our university. An overview followed regarding business school's academic programs and research directions along with its distinctive characteristics. Director He Dongmeng discussed our unique discipline construction as well as details on international exchanges and foreign cooperation initiatives. She expressed hope that both institutions would enhance inter-school exchanges by inviting Deakin University faculty to deliver keynote lectures for MBA and IMBA students while looking forward to deepening future collaborations.
Deputy Minister Higgins thanked Beijing Technology and Business University for its hospitality while introducing Deakin University's history and current development status in Australia alongside research focuses within their Department of Business Law. Deakin University (referred to as "DKU") ranks among Australia's top ten universities globally recognized within the top 2% worldwide with numerous international accreditations achieved thus far. He reflected on past collaborative achievements while considering new opportunities ahead—currently characterized by a dual degree program through business school coupled with a 2+2 study abroad initiative via our School for International Education where both disciplines align closely. Moreover, he emphasized Deakin University's commitment to fostering cooperative endeavors between both institutions moving forward including online teaching collaboration under “Quaro” alongside short-term exchange programs during upcoming semesters.
Participants then engaged in discussions regarding potential avenues such as school-enterprise partnerships between both universities along with prospects surrounding international summer schools plus graduate single-degree student programs structured around models like 1+1 or 2+0.
