Luo Zhenxiong, Chair professor of the University of Macau, came to our school for academic exchange

From October 17 to 18, 2023, Rob Law, a distinguished scholar in international tourism and hospitality research and Chair Professor at the University of Macau, was invited for academic exchanges with faculty and students. Nearly 30 participants from various departments—including Business School, Digital Economy Research Institute, Culture and Tourism Development Institute, and Computer and Artificial Intelligence School—attended these discussions.


        Professor Law Chin-hung is currently Chair Professor of Smart Tourism at the University of Macau Development Foundation. He has received over 100 awards for his research. In 2022, he was named a Highly Cited Scientist by Clarivate (Web of Science Group), placing him among about 0.1% of researchers worldwide. Additionally, he ranks first among Chinese scholars in publishing articles in international management journals. He serves on more than 200 editorial boards (including approximately 67% of Region I journals and around 75% of Region II journals in tourism) while chairing or participating as a committee member for over 180 international conferences. His research interests include smart travel, website evaluation, and e-word-of-mouth analysis.
        On October 17th, Professor Law shared insights into publishing high-level academic articles while highlighting common pitfalls in scholarly writing. He emphasized that journal selection criteria, submission requirements, abstracts, methodologies, diagrams references—and grammar—are critical during submissions. Given that reputable journals often have high rejection rates; he encouraged persistence even when papers are not accepted while maintaining motivation throughout one's research journey. He also identified common writing errors asserting that a publishable manuscript must present a central thesis supported by clear logical progression; each section should be complete to ensure coherence.
        On October 18th , Professor Law discussed World University Rankings within an increasingly globalized higher education landscape where knowledge drives international competitiveness; rankings enhance visibility for listed institutions/universities .He analyzed scoring criteria used by several authoritative world university rankings underscoring how highly cited publications along with esteemed scholars significantly elevate institutional standings alongside key indicators like partnerships between academia & industry plus international collaborations .


        Professor Law's two keynote lectures were profound ,detailed ,and intellectually stimulating .These sessions enriched attendees while inspiring them to dedicate themselves fervently towards scientific inquiry from diverse perspectives .Post-lecture interactions saw faculty members & students seeking clarification on challenges faced during their own research pursuits prompting thoughtful responses from Prof. Law. His engagement concluded with repeated expressions gratitude from attendees who voiced aspirations for future collaborative opportunities with him .
