On December 20, 2023, the eighth session of the "High-Quality Education Teaching Action Plan Series Lecture" was held in Conference Room 621 of the Comprehensive Building at Business School. Zheng Dengjin, Associate Professor from the School of Accounting at Central University of Finance and Economics, delivered a lecture titled "Enhancing Learning through Competition and Advancing Teaching through Competition" for faculty members. Dean He Yurun attended this lecture, which was moderated by Associate Professor Zhang Chenyu, Head of the Department of Accounting.
Zheng Dengjin is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at his institution. He has received several awards including first prize in Beijing's 11th Basic Teaching Skills Competition for Young Teachers and second prizes in both inaugural and third Teaching Innovation Competitions. Additionally, he has guided two individuals to win first prize in Beijings Youth Education Competition.
In his talk, Associate Professor Zheng focused on three key aspects: teaching competition dynamics; importance of ideological-political elements; and strategies for their integration into various components such as introductions. He emphasized maintaining a positive attitude during competitions while ensuring mental stability and effective time management to impress judges. Furthermore, he detailed how to incorporate ideological-political elements throughout different sections including reviews from previous segments and practical applications while highlighting team achievements—stressing that successful teaching competitions require collaboration to enhance instructional design.
With humor infused into his presentation style along with relatable examples from everyday life, he made it accessible yet thought-provoking for attendees.
At the end of the session, Dean He summarized by emphasizing teachers' crucial role within education systems encouraging young faculty members not only to refine their courses but also actively engage with classroom instruction while excelling academically—and participate enthusiastically in diverse teaching contests to continuously improve pedagogical skills.
